In order to assess the flood situation in the northeastern states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the governors of Manipur, Sikkim, and Assam. He also offered all the help he could in addressing the flood threat. Heavy rains in the past few days have slowed down life in the northeastern states, such as Assam, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh, and cut off the vital supply line to isolated areas of these states.
PM Modi promised the governor of Manipur and the chief ministers of Assam and Sikkim that the Center will provide all aid feasible in the ongoing relief and restoration efforts. River levels have risen to dangerous heights due to the northeast states’ unrelenting rains, which include Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, and other nearby areas. According to reports, the Brahmaputra, Pachnoi, and Kushiyara, three of the region’s major rivers, are flowing at dangerously high levels. People have been forced to evacuate their houses and relocate to safer areas as a result of the flooding of thousands of hectares of land.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, also went to X to say that PM Modi had contacted him to ask about the state’s flood crisis. Prem Singh Tamang, the chief minister of Sikkim, thanked the prime minister on X for offering assistance with the state’s flood and landslide problems.
