A combined team of security forces along with Forest Department destroyed about 65 acres of poppy field at Govok hill range under Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district yesterday. Two temporary huts, poppy pods and poppy seeds etc. Found at the site were destroyed. On the same day, a combined team of security forces, Forest Department along with Executive Magistrate also destroyed about 30 acres of poppy field at Sadim hills range under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district.
