Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense: Significant AoN sanctions to improve defense capabilities

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stressed that the Ministry is working tirelessly to strengthen India’s defense preparedness and that decisions made will help to enhance the Armed Forces’ operational capabilities after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for various proposals of the Armed Forces. This follows the Defence Acquisition Council’s (DAC) Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for a number of the three Services’ proposals totaling approximately Rs 79,000 crore.

AoN was authorized to purchase Loiter Munition System for Artillery Regiments, Low Level Light Weight Radars, Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MRLS), and Integrated Drone Detection & Interdiction System Mk-II for the Indian Army during the meeting on December 29, 2025, according to the Ministry of Defence. While Low Level Light Weight Radars will identify and monitor small, low-flying Unmanned Aerial Systems, Loiter Munition will be utilized to precisely strike tactical targets.

The Ministry said long-range guided rockets and the Integrated Drone Detection & Interdiction System Mk-II will enhance the Indian Army’s strike capability, accuracy, and protection of vital assets. For the Navy, approval was granted for procuring Bollard Pull tugs, High Frequency software-defined radios, and leasing High Altitude Long Range remotely piloted aircraft to improve ship manoeuvring, secure communication, and maritime surveillance. For the Air Force, approvals covered systems including the Automatic Take-off Landing Recording System, Astra Mk-II missiles, simulators, and SPICE-1000 guidance kits to strengthen safety, training, and combat capabilities.
