RIMS conducts dental check-up camp for children

A dental health check-up and treatment camp for children was successfully conducted at Kakwa Namoirakpam Leikai and Naorem Leikai. The camp was organised by the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, in collaboration with Kangleicha Yaipha Lamjing Lup (KYLL). The programme was conducted under ISPPD NEST – Nurture, Educate, Serve and Treat, a flagship initiative of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) aimed at improving children’s oral health in the North-eastern region.

During the camp, 60 children along with their parents benefited from oral health screening, dental caries detection, and assessment of gum and oral hygiene conditions. Educational demonstrations on proper brushing techniques, healthy dietary habits, and the importance of regular dental visits were also provided to both children and parents.

Minor restorative treatments and tooth extractions were performed for children requiring immediate care. Pamphlets, IEC materials, toothbrushes, toothpaste, oral hygiene kits, and necessary medicines were distributed. The camp was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Wairokpam Bhoomika Devi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal. The programme was an enriching experience for both the children and the dental team. Special appreciation was extended to the parents and children for their active participation.
