In a related event, illegal poppy crop was destroyed on January 23 in the Siden Changpikot area of Dampi Reserve Forest in Manipur as a result of a coordinated operation by the Churachandpur District Police, the District Forest Officer (DFO) Churachandpur, and central forces. The goal of the operation, which was carried out under the control of the Sangaikot Police Station, was to stop the illegal drug traffic in the area. During the drive, some 12 acres of poppy crops were eradicated. The illegal crops, which have grown to be a significant issue in the area, were promptly removed by the authorities.
