Amidst an ongoing crackdown on extortion activities and militancy in Manipur, security forces conducted a series of coordinated operations and apprehended at least four allegedly active cadres of militant groups on Monday. Police sources said that a self-styled sergeant of KCP (Taibanganba) was apprehended from the Heirangoithong area under Singjamei police station in Imphal West district. The apprehended cadre has been identified as Thokchom Santosh Meitei (37) alias Tampakngakpa alias Nanao, hailing from Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai in Imphal West district.
A mobile phone was seized from him.In another operation, a PREPAK (PRO) (G-5) was apprehended from the Loktak Project Gate area under Bishnupur police station in Bishnupur district. The apprehended cadre has been identified as Louriyam Thoi Meitei alias Korou (26) of Bishnupur Ward Number 3 in Bishnupur district. A mobile phone and a SIM card were seized from him.
Security forces also arrested an active cadre of PREPAK, identifies as Thokchom Jotilal Singh (29) alias Angamba of Kiyamgei Maning Leikai in Imphal East district from his locality under Irilbung police station. A mobile phone was seized from him. Another operation was carried out by the forces during which an active cadre of PREPAK (G-5) was apprehended from the Keishampat Konjeng Hajari Leikai area under Imphal police station in Imphal West district.
The apprehended cadre was identified as Wangkheirakpam Nandi Meitei (45), hailing from Loushangkhong Makha Leikai in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was seized from him.
Meanwhile, security forces on Monday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the Changsang hill range area under Sagolmang police station in Imphal East district.
