With Peru emerging as a key country partner, Nagaland is poised to demonstrate international cultural diplomacy during the 25th Hornbill Festival. With the opening of diplomatic relations, a thriving cultural interchange between Peru and Nagaland is anticipated. Following a meeting with Peruvian Ambassador H.E. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio affirmed the alliance. The partnership, which is a calculated step to improve bilateral ties, will include Peruvian artists and entertainers taking part in a number of festival events. This comes after Rio’s recent diplomatic meeting with Japanese officials, such as Japanese Embassy representatives Takashi Ariyoshi and Mayumi Tsubakimoto, cemented Japan’s involvement in the festival.
In keeping with Nagaland’s increasing diplomatic and cultural importance, the Hornbill Festival, which is renowned for its diverse cultural exhibition, will now include foreign participation from Peru and Japan. Cultural events, workshops, artisan displays, and cooperative projects are some of the festival’s main attractions. Toyota will make a significant contribution through collaborations with the Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA) of the State Government. The 2024 Hornbill Festival is expected to be a historic occasion for cross-cultural cooperation, with Wales previously declared as another partner nation.
