Three insurgent cadres arrested in Manipur, pistol and ammunition seized

Manipur Police have arrested three alleged cadres of banned insurgent outfits in separate operations carried out over the past two days. A pistol, ammunition and mobile phones were seized during the operations, officials said. In the first incident on March 1, security forces arrested a 21-year-old alleged member of the proscribed outfit People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Phaknung Awang Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district. The accused was identified as Khundrakpam Anilkumar Singh, also known as Manganglakpa, a resident of Sawombung Thongkhong. Police said a mobile phone was recovered from his possession.

In another operation on February 28, security personnel apprehended an alleged active member of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Yairipok Lamkhai under Thoubal police station. The accused was identified as Ibungomacha Laishram, also known as Rocky alias Ibomcha (43). He is a resident of Gaili village in Peren district of Nagaland and was staying at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai in Imphal West district. One mobile phone and a SIM card were seized from him.

In a separate operation on the same day, police arrested a 29-year-old alleged cadre of People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), also known as PREPAK (Pro), from Wangoi Khaidem Leikai under Wangoi police station in Imphal West district. The accused, identified as Khaidem Narendra Singh alias Angou alias Maikeingakpa, was found in possession of a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, four rounds of ammunition and a mobile phone with a SIM card.
