Union Minister reviews relief efforts in conflict-hit Churachandpur, assures continued support

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, visited Churachandpur district on Monday to assess the delivery of government aid to families displaced by ongoing ethnic violence. The visit highlighted the central government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and supporting communities affected by unrest in Manipur’s hill districts.

During the visit to the district headquarters, Tamta met displaced residents and beneficiaries of welfare schemes alongside Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S and other district officials at the mini secretariat. Officials distributed benefits under several central programmes, including the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) scheme, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana health insurance.

The minister also recognised the academic achievements of five students from displaced families who excelled in recent board examinations, emphasising the government’s efforts to maintain educational continuity despite prolonged disruption. Special awards were presented to Lalthazam, CEO of the Autonomous District Council Committee, Seiminthang, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and two fellows from the Aspirational Blocks Programme for their contributions to local development.

Tamta reviewed the progress of central and state schemes across various departments and aspirational blocks, interacting with officials to understand ground-level challenges. He assured continued support from the central government to ensure timely and effective implementation of relief measures.
