Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Sunday that women’s empowerment is critical to India’s progress, underscoring a shift in societal attitudes in which women are no longer restricted to conventional duties. Instead, they are regarded as important drivers of advancement, making enormous contributions to the country’s development. The BJP-led NDA government at the centre has published a book outlining its achievements in empowering women over the last 11 years. As the NDA nears the end of its 11-year term, the book examines several significant projects, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
It stated that for years, Indian women have faced institutional impediments, including limited access to education, healthcare, work, and decision-making, particularly in rural and marginalised regions. However, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a historic transformation has occurred since 2014. Women are no longer viewed as passive beneficiaries but as powerful agents of change who are critical to India’s growth story. Women are leading self-help organizations, starting businesses, breaking down barriers in science, defense, and sports, and influencing the nation’s destiny.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment as a strategic imperative. The government has adopted a comprehensive policy framework to empower women across social, economic, political, and legal domains, aiming to reduce violence and discrimination against women. This is reflected in the country’s approach to Amrit Kaal.
