A content creator from Manipur was arrested for allegedly sharing videos that fuelled social distrust.

A digital content creator was arrested by Manipur Police on Monday for allegedly producing and circulating videos containing provocative content, aimed at fuelling mistrust among social organisations in the state. The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Yumkhaibam Shantikumar, a resident of Tangkham Awang Leikai, Haraorou in Pangei Yangdong of Imphal East district. According to reports, the content creator had interviewed random individuals while posing questions that had the potential to trigger conspiracy narratives, criminal intimidation and even spread misinformation.Police officials stated that the content that could disturb public harmony and fuel social distrust at a time when the state remains sensitive to issues of communal tension. An investigation has been ordered to determine the intent behind the videos created and whether they were part of a coordinated attempt to spread false information. Post the arrest, authorities have urged other content creators in the state to act responsibly and refrain from engaging in activities that might jeopardise public peace or violate established legal provisions.
