A heat wave alert has been issued in nine districts of the state

Residents of South Bengal and Kolkata are not free from the uncomfortable weather. Instead, the Alipur Meteorological Department has predicted that the temperature will increase by 2 to 3 degrees in the next few days. A heatwave warning has been issued in nine districts of the state until next Sunday.

These nine districts are: East Midnapore, Purulia, Jhargram, West Midnapore, Bankura, West Burdwan, East Burdwan, Birbhum, and South 24 Parganas. Light rains are predicted in two districts of North Bengal, despite the burning in South Bengal. Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts may receive scattered light to moderate rains. Rain may continue until Sunday. Light rain is also predicted in the rest of the northern districts starting Saturday.

Kolkata’s maximum temperature on Wednesday was 37.1 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 27.7 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to touch 38 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively, throughout the day on Thursday.

The Meteorological Department has given some advice to stay safe from the heat wave. Do not go out on the street and stay in the sun for a long time. It is recommended to wear light-colored and light-cotton clothes. It is necessary to use an umbrella or cover the head with a cloth. Drink enough water. Along with that, it is recommended to consume more ORS and lemon water.
