Bike rally promotes road safety awareness

With an aim to promote and disseminate road safety awareness as part of the series of events under 37th National Road Safety Month which is being observed from January 1 to 31, the District Administration Jiribam, District Police, and District Transport Office jointly organised a bike rally today. The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar, IAS, and was participated by around 100 bikers, including personnel from CRPF, Jiribam Police, and students from Jiri College.
The rally was started from Jiri Bridge near ILP Check Point and concluded at Irawat Square, Babupara, covering a distance of 4 kilometers via Lamkhai Bazar.
Krishna Kumar highlighted the importance of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, which is being observed with the aim of raising awareness among the general public regarding road safety and the crucial measures that can be adopted to ensure safer travel for everyone.
The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to adhere to the guidelines and rules associated with road safety, emphasizing that these precautions are essential actions meant to protect the lives of individuals on the roads. By following these instructions, citizens can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and contribute to creating a safer environment for all road users.
Krishna Kumar reiterated the importance of community involvement in such awareness campaigns, stating that collective efforts can foster a culture of safety. He expressed hope that initiatives like this bike rally would inspire more residents to prioritize road safety and promote responsible behaviour on the roads.
In a separate event, the newly opened District Transport Office, Jiribam was formally inaugurated by Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla virtually from the Re-commissioning of ISBT and inauguration of DTO Pherzawl, Kakching, Noney, Jiribam programme held at ISBT Complex, Imphal. The opening of DTO Jiribam reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment towards strengthening Public Transport System and Intra-district and Inter-State Bus services.
The flag off ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Superintendent of Police Prakhar Pandey, IPS, ADC Th. Manoranjan Singh, MCS, SDPO, Jiribam, Noor Kamal Sheikh, MPS, District Information Officer N. Bidyananda Singh, SDC, Jiribam, S. Sitaranjit Singh, DTO M. Vikash, and other officials from the DC Office, Jiribam Police, and District Transport Office.
