Chetak Screen Awards 2026: Stories, stars and streaming — Dhurandhar leads as industry celebrates creative talent

Beyond numbers and nominations, this year’s Chetak Screen Awards tell a larger story of people, passion, and a rapidly changing entertainment industry. Leading the nominations is Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar with 24 nods, followed by Saiyaara (17) and Homebound (15), as the industry prepares for the April 5 ceremony.

The nominations, spread across 31 categories, bring together a diverse mix of talent—from established stars like Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, and Radhika Apte to emerging performers such as Vishal Jethwa and Shreya Chaudhry. Films like Homebound and Superboys of Malegaon highlight grounded storytelling, while big productions like Chhaava and Dhurandhar showcase scale and spectacle.

At the heart of the awards is a rigorous and inclusive selection process. More than 95% of the 50-plus Screen Academy members participated, with each category judged by 38–40 experts using a fair scoring system developed with academic input from Professor Priya Jaikumar of USC.

In a significant moment for creators and audiences alike, the awards will be broadcast live for the first time in 20 years, streaming globally on YouTube and airing on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony Liv. The move reflects a growing effort to bring Indian stories closer to audiences worldwide while expanding the industry’s digital reach.
