Chief Minister Flags Off SpiceJet Flights Connecting Imphal to Major Cities

In a major boost to Manipur’s air connectivity, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh inaugurated direct SpiceJet flight services linking Imphal with Guwahati, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The launch event was held at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, saying it plays a crucial role in realising the goal of a Viksit Manipur. He remarked that in the current challenging situation, air travel has become the most convenient and preferred mode of transport for people travelling outside the state. He also urged the airline to periodically review ticket prices to ensure that airfares remain affordable for the public.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister personally handed over the boarding pass to the first passenger travelling on the inaugural SpiceJet flight to Guwahati.

The event was attended by Lok Sabha MP Dr. Bimol Akoijam; MLAs Tongbram Robindro Singh (Thanga AC) and Khashim Vashum (Chingai AC); Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Bajpai; Transport Director Khumanthem Diana; Superintendent of Police, Imphal West, Ksh. Shivakanta Singh; officials from the Airports Authority of India, and other dignitaries.

As part of the celebrations, the Chief Minister also took part in a candle-lighting ceremony, ribbon cutting, and cake cutting.
