CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI holds renal transplantation programme to strengthen kidney care in Northeast

Patients requiring advanced kidney treatment in Assam and the Northeast could benefit from stronger medical expertise as CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI, in partnership with the Government of Assam, organised an exclusive Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on renal transplantation in Guwahati. The initiative was aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge and techniques in transplant medicine to improve patient care.

Held at Vivanta Hotel under the theme “Advancing Renal Care through Collaboration, Innovation & Expertise,” the programme brought together nephrologists, urologists, transplant surgeons, physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss emerging innovations and global best practices in kidney transplantation.

The academic sessions began with an introductory address by Dr. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI. Scientific presentations included Dr. ForqanBabuShaikh, Consultant – General Advanced Robotic Surgery and Renal Transplant Surgery, who spoke on robotic renal transplantation, and Dr. Aziz MD Atikul Islam, Consultant – Urology, who presented on retro nephrectomy and contemporary surgical techniques aimed at improving surgical outcomes.

Dr. Roy said continuous medical education and collaboration among specialists are essential to advancing transplant care and delivering better outcomes for patients across Assam and the Northeast.

With more than five decades of clinical excellence, CK Birla Hospitals, CMRI said the initiative reinforces its commitment to expanding access to advanced medical expertise through collaborative learning. The programme concluded with a networking session and dinner, allowing healthcare professionals to exchange ideas and strengthen partnerships that could contribute to improved renal healthcare services across the region.
