The incumbent Chief Minister of Manipur is tasked with steering the State through a prolonged period of instability and rebuilding trust among communities, worst affected by the ongoing violence. The present communal crisis began intensified for the first time, since the 3rd day of May,2023, during the tenure of former chief minister N. Biren Singh. His resignation came amid escalating tensions between the two communities.
The situation subsequently necessitated the imposition of President’s Rule in an effort to bring back peace and normalcy in the state.
