Security forces in Manipur arrested a suspected drug peddler with a large consignment of illegal drugs valued at approximately ₹24 lakh during a routine vehicle check at T. Khullen Naka Checkpoint in Senapati district on Wednesday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Makakmayum Firdos Sharif, 26, a resident of Yairipok Tulihal Awang Leikai in Imphal East district. He was travelling in a Hyundai i20 when he was intercepted by security personnel conducting random inspections in the area.
Upon thorough checking of the vehicle, security forces recovered 29,974 suspected WY tablets, carefully packed in 150 packets. According to officials, the estimated street value of the seized tablets is around ₹24,00,000.
In addition to the narcotics, authorities also seized:
One Hyundai i20 car along with its key and registration certificate
One Apple iPhone
An Aadhaar card
A Voter ID card
The accused and all seized materials have been taken into custody for further legal proceedings. Preliminary interrogation suggests that Firdos Sharif may be part of a broader drug distribution network operating within and beyond the state.
