UAL, UNAL Reject Census Without NRC

A joint public meeting, organized by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup, took place at Uripok Yambem Leikai Community Hall to address critical issues related to the Census and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The attendees reached a resolution stating that the Census should not be conducted prior to the implementation of the NRC in Manipur. The collective stance emphasized that proceeding with the Census without the NRC would be deemed unacceptable. Additionally, they declared that if the government were to move forward with the Census without establishing the NRC first, the residents of Uripok would democratically oppose it. The participants also discussed possible intensified forms of protest at the local level. They warned that failure to address these concerns would result in grassroots resistance. The resolutions were supported by various civil organizations in attendance.
