During concerted operations, Manipur’s security services found a sizable stash of guns and drugs

As part of a stepped-up crackdown on illegal weapons and drugs, Manipur’s security forces made a number of notable arrests and seizures in many districts on June 12. At the Mao checkpoint in Senapati district, a 27-year-old man named Anshu Raj from Bhojpur, Bihar, was detained in possession of two packets of suspected heroin weighing more over 2 kg. A regular frisking of departing passenger cars resulted in the arrest. In a separate operation, the Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district recovered a large stash of explosives and firearms from a hiding site near Karyam hamlet.

The confiscated items included a battle uniform, two 9 mm handguns with magazines, live and empty ammunition, a 9 mm carbine, ten locally made metal IEDs, Motorola communication devices, a helmet, electric wires, and shoes. At the Sagolmang Police Station in Champhai village, which is part of Imphal East, more recoveries were made. An empty magazine and two 12-bore single-barrel rifles. Items discovered in the haul included a 32 handgun, a variety of live ammo for AK-47s, M-16s, and 9mm handguns, tear smoke rounds, a smoke grenade, a camouflage BP cover with iron plates, and a Baofeng wireless set.

at the Thoubal district, another cache was discovered at Ikop Pat, which is under the Thoubal Police Station. A.303 rifle, a 9 mm handgun, bolt action and single barrel rifles, various live and blank rounds, tear gas shells, and rubber bullets were among the weapons found.
