Eight UG Cadres Arrested in Multiple Operations

Security forces on Wednesday arrested two extortionists KCP (MFL) active cadres, both residents of Khabi Mamang Leikai, Imphal West district from their respective residences: The arrested cadres have been identified as Thangjam Goutam Singh (19), and Diamond Chingshubam (24). From their possession, a two-wheeler, Royal Enfield Meteor bearing Regd. No. MN04G-2108, two mobile phones and an Aadhaar Card were seized. On the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), namely Khulem Kulajit Singh (20) of Khurai Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai, Porompat-PS, Imphal East district from his residence. One mobile phone, and an Aadhaar card were recovered from his possession. Manipur Police also arrested an active member of KCP(Apunba) from Khurai Laishram Leikai near Chairenthong under Porompat-PS, Imphal East district. He has been identified as Chabungbam Taisan Meitei (21) of Ekou, Sadu Koireng, Imphal East District, presently staying at Sajiwa Relief Camp, Imphal East District. From his possession, one M20 pistol along with one magazine and one mobile handset were seized. Manipur Police also arrested one active cadre of KCP (Apunba) who was involved in causing a bomb explosion at Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai area, Imphal West district on February 3 namely, Athokpam Derrick Singh (22) of Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai under Imphal-PS, Imphal west district from his residence. From his possession, two mobile handsets and an Aadhaar card were recovered.

Security forces also arrested three active cadres of KYKL from the general area of Moirangthel village near BP 88 under Tengnoupal-PS, Tengnoupal district. They have been identified identified as Abujam Naba Meeitei (49) of Wangoo Terakhong, Bishnupur District; Ningthoujam Kunjabihari Singh (30) of Moirang (Naryansinha) Bishnupur District and Ningthoujam Manglem Singh (45) of Heirok Part- III, Thoubal District. Meanwhile, a total of 114 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different districts, both in the hills and the valley, however none was detained. Movement of 191 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 was ensured. Strict security measures were taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles. Security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts.
