Five Militants Killed

Five members of a militant group were killed during a suspected internal clash at Deivaijang village in Manipur’s Noney district, officials reported on Tuesday.

The incident took place late Monday night in the remote village, located about 53 km from the Noney district headquarters. While the exact circumstances behind the killings are still unclear, officials suspect that the deaths resulted from an internal conflict within the group.

The slain individuals were identified as cadres of the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA). An official confirmed that further investigation is ongoing, and more information is awaited.

In a statement issued in the local dialect, the CKMA acknowledged the loss, stating, “Due to misunderstandings and certain malicious intentions, five of our cadres were killed, which is a major setback for our organisation and community.”

The CKMA was formed two years ago and is not a signatory to the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement signed with the Central government in 2008. The incident has raised concerns over growing tensions and instability within non-SoO militant groups operating in the region.
