FOGSI’s Quality Care Drive Reshapes Maternal Health Landscape in Manipur

In a groundbreaking move to revolutionize maternal healthcare in Manipur, the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) has galvanized over 66% of private maternity facilities in the state to embrace its quality care initiative, Manyata. This significant stride was unveiled during a recent event where FOGSI showcased its State Saturation approach, aimed at bolstering the capacities of private maternity care facilities.

With Manipur grappling with high maternal mortality rates (MMR), FOGSI’s Manyata initiative has emerged as a beacon of hope, enrolling a substantial portion of maternity facilities under its wing. Nine such facilities were honored with Manyata certification for meeting stringent assessment criteria, underscoring a monumental leap towards enhancing maternal health outcomes in the state.

Key stakeholders, including state government representatives and FOGSI leaders, converged at the event to applaud this milestone. Dr. James Elangbam’s Acme Fertility and Healthcare Centre also debuted as a Centre for Skill Excellence (CSE), further solidifying Manyata’s footprint in Manipur’s healthcare landscape. Dr. Hema Divakar, Manyata’s National Convenor, hailed the initiative as transformative, emphasizing its role in promoting innovation and health equity. Dr. Hrishikesh D. Pai, Trustee of FIGO Asia Oceania and Chief Administrator of FOGSI-Manyata initiative, echoed this sentiment, stressing the initiative’s dedication to bringing quality maternal care to every corner of the country.
