Security forces arrested four militants linked to different banned outfits in separate operations across two districts of Manipur, police said on Monday.
According to officials, two militants—Thokchom Ingocha Singh (31) and Thokchom Ragunath Meitei (48)—were apprehended on April 4 from the vicinity of Yangoubung village in Tengnoupal district, close to the India-Myanmar border.
The operation was carried out jointly by security forces and personnel from the Delhi Police. Officials said the area is considered sensitive due to its proximity to the international border and has seen movement of insurgent groups in the past.
In another operation on the same day, a third militant, Laishram Inaotomba Singh (19), was arrested from the Palace Compound area in Imphal East district. Police said the arrest was made based on specific inputs regarding his alleged involvement with a proscribed outfit.
On April 5, security forces carried out another operation in Imphal East district and arrested one more militant from his residence at Sanjenbam Khunou. His identity has not been disclosed by the police so far.
Officials said all four individuals are believed to be associated with different banned organisations operating in the region. Security agencies are now questioning the arrested militants to gather further information about their activities, networks, and possible links to other operatives.
Police added that investigations are ongoing and further arrests or recoveries cannot be ruled out. The recent operations are part of continued efforts by security forces to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the state.
