Security forces on Sunday arrested two active cadres of National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) from New Checkon area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested cadres are said to be involved in recruiting new cadres. They have been identified as Phamdom Mangalsana Singh @ Chingsanglakpa (34) of Phumlou Awang Leikai, and Moirangthem Nepolian Meitei @ Chingkhei (26) of Ngangkha Lawai Maning Leikai. From their possession, two mobile handsets were seized. On the same day, security forces arrested an extortionist, a UNLF active cadre, one Ningthoujam Sanathoi Singh (26) of Yourabung Khunou Ward-IV under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East district from his residence. A mobile phone was seized from him. Security forces also arrested an active cadre of KCP (Noyon), one Puthem Iton Meitei @ Tomba (33) of Keirao Wangkhem Maning Leikai under Irilbung Police Station, Imphal East district from his locality on Saturday. A mobile phone was seized from him.
On the other hand, security forces recovered arms and ammunition, including Improvised Explosive Device during a search operation conducted at Kolchung, Hengel Sub-Division under Hengel-PS, Churachandpur district within two days from January 16 to 18. The recovered arms include 15 IEDs with explosives, eight country made single barrel rifles, three countries made 9 mm CMGs, one 51 mm mortal bombs HE, and miscellaneous items including uniforms, boots and belts. Meanwhile, security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts resulting in recovery of arms and ammunition: A total of 114 Naka’s/Checkpoints were installed in different districts, both in the hills and the valley, however none was detained.
