Governor Pays Visit to Assam Rifles’ 26 Sector Headquarters

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by the First Lady, visited the Assam Rifles Headquarters at Pallel in Kakching district to welcome a 23-member team returning from the National Integration Tour 2025–2026. This diverse group, including leaders from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and members of Self-Help Groups, undertook a 15-day journey to key Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Delhi, Guwahati, and Shillong. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Maj. Gen. Gaurav Sharma and Brig. Robeen Chatterjee, who recognized the significance of this initiative.

The tour allowed the participants, comprising 13 men and 10 women, to experience India’s rich cultural heritage and democratic frameworks. Their itinerary included significant sites such as the Kohima War Memorial, the Statue of Unity, Atal Bridge, Dandi Kutir, and the Sabarmati Riverfront, where they also interacted with participants from the REACHA program. In Delhi, the delegation visited prominent landmarks and met with several dignitaries, including President Droupadi Murmu and other high-ranking officials, emphasizing the importance of national integration.

Governor Bhalla commended the Assam Rifles for facilitating the tour, highlighting its role in fostering understanding of India’s diversity and cultural unity. He referenced the Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and urged the participants to propagate messages of national unity and harmony throughout the State. The participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable exposure they received. In addition to the tour, Governor Bhalla interacted with skill development trainees at the Sector Headquarters, encouraging them to leverage opportunities for self-reliance.

The Governor’s visit concluded with a trip to the Tengnoupal District Headquarters, where he met with local administrative officials who briefed him on various district issues. He and the First Lady also participated in an environmental initiative by planting saplings at the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
