ICICI Life Insurance targets 20,000 women advisor hires to advance financial inclusion by FY2027

ICICI Life Insurance Limited has announced plans to recruit 20,000 women advisors across India by the end of FY2027 under its Narishakti initiative, linking women’s economic empowerment with wider insurance access and the government’s vision of “Insurance for All by 2047”.

Announced during Navratri, the recruitment drive marks the second anniversary of Narishakti, launched in 2024 to help women build careers as financial planners without upfront investment. The initiative provides training and professional support, alongside flexible working schedules that enable homemakers, salaried professionals and businesswomen to balance family commitments with employment and financial independence.

As of September 30, 2026, the insurer had more than 78,000 women advisors, representing around 32% of its total advisor base but contributing approximately 45% of its agency business. Their contribution exceeded 50% in Bengaluru, Kerala and Mumbai, while 47% of the company’s women advisors had been associated with it for more than 10 years.

Amish Banker, Chief Distribution Officer of ICICI Life Insurance Limited, said, “We, at ICICI Life Insurance, firmly believe that ‘Talent has no gender’.”

He cited women’s empathy, commitment, loyalty, customer understanding and problem-solving abilities as important strengths in insurance distribution and long-term relationship-building.

The planned expansion could increase women’s participation in financial services while strengthening insurance outreach. The company said Narishakti aims to equip women with the skills needed to support wider financial protection for families across India.
