Manipur Assembly forms Business Advisory Committee, seven MLAs named

The Manipur Legislative Assembly has constituted a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to help manage and schedule the work of the House. The committee will play an important role in deciding the agenda of the Assembly and ensuring the smooth conduct of legislative business during the session.According to the official list, Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh will serve as the Chairman of the committee. The committee also includes Chief Minister N. Biren Singh as a member along with several other Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).The other members of the committee are Keisham Meghachandra Singh, Awangbow Newmai, Mohd Abdul Nasir, Mayanglambam Rameshwar Singh, and Chinlunthang, all of whom are serving MLAs in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

The Business Advisory Committee is a key body within the Assembly. Its main task is to decide how much time should be allotted for discussions on different bills, motions, and other legislative matters. The committee also advises the Speaker on the order of business to be taken up during Assembly sittings. Officials said that the formation of the committee is a routine but important step to ensure that the Assembly proceedings are conducted in an organized manner. The committee helps in balancing government business with discussions raised by opposition members and other legislators.

With representatives from both the ruling side and opposition benches, the committee is expected to assist the Speaker in planning the legislative schedule and ensuring that important issues are discussed in the House.
