Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Monday met representatives of six groups of internally displaced persons (IDPs) at the Chief Minister’s Bungalow in Imphal and discussed their concerns over rehabilitation and resettlement.
State Home Commissioner N. Ashok Kumar and Deputy Commissioners of all districts housing IDPs also attended the meeting.
During the interaction, IDP representatives raised issues related to their resettlement and other grievances before the state government. They also appreciated the Chief Minister’s initiative to reopen National Highway-2 and resume public transport services on the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati route.
Chief Minister Khemchand Singh assured the representatives that the issues raised by them would be addressed and said the government was sincerely working towards the rehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced people.
The Chief Minister also said NH-2 had been reopened for people of all communities and that public transport services along the highway had resumed smoothly. He expressed confidence that the restoration of road connectivity would help address several difficulties faced by IDPs.
