Manipur CM reviews anti-drug strategy with NCB, vows stronger action against narcotics

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on July 1, reiterated the state government’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace after holding a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at the State Secretariat in Imphal.

The meeting was attended by R. Sudhakar, IPS, Deputy Director General (Northeast Region), NCB, and P. K. Mishra, Additional Director, NCB. The discussions focused on strengthening the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign and improving enforcement against drug trafficking.

According to the Chief Minister, the deliberations centred on enhancing intelligence gathering, boosting coordination between state and central agencies, and expanding cooperation with international agencies to tackle cross-border narcotics networks.

The officials also reviewed the implementation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with emphasis on ensuring stricter enforcement and intensifying efforts to dismantle illegal drug trafficking networks.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Singh said the state government remains steadfast in its resolve to eliminate the drug menace through coordinated and sustained action involving all concerned agencies.

“The government remains firmly committed to eliminating the drug menace through coordinated and sustained efforts,” the Chief Minister stated.
