Manipur Health Minister warns of rising dengue cases

Manipur’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Sapam Ranjan, raised alarm over the increasing number of dengue cases in the state, urging public involvement to curb the spread of the disease. Speaking at a press conference on September 22, the minister revealed that dengue cases had surged from 148 in August to 230 in September.

Emphasizing the need for community cooperation, Ranjan stated, “The health department alone cannot combat this vector-borne disease. We need active participation from the community, households, and individuals.”

He also highlighted that health officials were facing challenges, with some locals refusing to allow inspections of mosquito breeding grounds, which are vital in controlling the disease’s spread.
