Manipur is reeling from heavy rains, with rivers overflowing and cities submerged

Low-lying parts in Imphal West and Imphal East districts were inundated after the Imphal River, one of the state’s principal rivers, burst its banks. Residents in flood-prone areas have received advisories from the state government asking them to exercise caution and heed official instructions. In order to prevent escalation, officials are aggressively implementing precautionary measures in regions that are at risk, keeping a careful eye on urban drainage networks and river water levels. Manipur has seen significant flooding as a result of the state’s recent high rainfall, which has disrupted daily life and prompted emergency measures across the state.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy rainfall in the area, and disaster response units have been put on high alert. To coordinate rescue and relief activities, the state has established a Flood Control Room, which may be reached at 0385-2451550. Severe waterlogging in urban areas, especially Imphal city, has caused traffic jams, the interruption of necessary services, and major annoyance for commuters. The government has urged people to follow official channels for information and to stay indoors whenever feasible. As officials prepare for the potential of harsher weather, relief efforts and emergency preparations are in progress.
