Manipur Police and Delhi Police Bust Militant Activity in Tengnoupal and Imphal East

Security forces in Manipur have intensified their crackdown on insurgent activities, reporting the arrest of four militants associated with various proscribed organizations. The arrests, carried out over the last 48 hours, spanned two separate districts and involved a high degree of coordination between state and central agencies. The operations began on April 4 in the sensitive border district of Tengnoupal. Local security forces and the Delhi Police jointly apprehended two militants near Yangoubung village, situated close to the India-Myanmar border. The individuals have been identified as 31-year-old Thokchom Ingocha Singh and 48-year-old Thokchom Ragunath Meitei. Given the proximity to the international boundary, officials are investigating potential cross-border links associated with these individuals.

Simultaneously, the focus shifted to Imphal East, where police conducted a targeted raid in the Palace Compound area. This operation resulted in the arrest of 19-year-old Laishram Inaotomba Singh. The momentum continued into the following day, April 5, when security personnel tracked down a fourth militant at his residence in Sanjenbam Khunou, also located within the Imphal East district.

The Manipur Police’s official statement confirms that all four detainees belong to different banned outfits operating within the state. While the specific names of the organizations have not been released to the public yet, authorities emphasized that these arrests are part of a broader strategy to stabilize the region and curb the influence of underground groups. As of now, all four individuals remain in custody. Police officials have confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine their involvement in recent local disturbances and to uncover any broader networks. These successful operations represent an important milestone in the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to maintain order across the state’s volatile districts.
