The district-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 for Imphal West was successfully conducted at the Senate Hall, Manipur University. The programme was organized by the NSS Cell, Manipur University, in collaboration with MY Bharat, Imphal West, under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The event witnessed the gracious presence of distinguished dignitaries and the enthusiastic participation of dynamic youth representatives from across the district. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, as the Chief Guest. Konsom Himalay Singh, Lieutenant General of the Indian Army, attended as the Special Guest. Prof. Ch. Ihohal Singh, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Manipur University, and Prof. L. Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, Manipur University, were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Salam Danachandra Singh, Director, MY Bharat, Imphal West, presided over the function.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp, symbolizing knowledge and enlightenment, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Convenor of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026. In his address, he underscored the profound significance of the Youth Parliament in strengthening democratic values and fostering meaningful youth engagement in nationbuilding. He highlighted that the initiative provides a powerful and inclusive platform for amplifying the voices of young citizens across India and aligns with the visionary mission of Viksit Bharat@2047 through the spirit of Yuva Connect. The programme specifically aimed to engage young individuals aged 18–25 in thoughtful deliberations on the theme, “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.”
In Manipur, nine nodal institutions have been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the district-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026. These include: Imphal West District – Manipur University, Imphal East District – Dhanamanjuri University, Bishnupur District – Moirang College, Thoubal District – Thoubal College, Kakching District – Kakching Khunou College, Tengnoupal District – Moreh College, Kangpokpi District – Presidency College, Jiribam District – Jiri College, Churachandpur District – Churachandpur College.
Each nodal institution is mandated to complete the district-level programme on or before 28th February 2026 and select the best five participants to represent their respective districts at the State-Level Youth Parliament, scheduled to be held next month at the State Assembly. On this significant occasion, the Chief Guest felicitated two inspiring youth icons – Linthoinganbi Devi, an International Footballer, and Th. Lansana Devi, an awardee of the NEZCC Young Talent Award— recognizing their outstanding contributions as embodiments of the Yuva Connect spirit. The Special Guest, Konsom Himalay Singh, also felicitated NSS volunteers who had actively participated at the National Integration Camp (NIC) held at Gujarat University, appreciating their dedication and commitment to national integration and service.
