Merit Will Guide Recruitment, Assures MSSC Chairman

Media briefing for the Manipur Staff Selection Commission (MSSC) occurred on Thursday at the Deputy Commissioner Complex in Imphal West. T. Ranjit Singh, a retired IAS officer and the first Chairman of MSSC, emphasized the Commission’s focus on establishing a transparent, secure, efficient, and merit-based recruitment process for subordinate posts in Manipur. Ranjit Singh noted that he took charge on September 2, 2024, under the Manipur Staff Selection Commission Act, 2022. Despite operating with limited manpower, the Commission is making significant efforts to set up effective systems.

The Chairman clarified that MSSC will only handle recruitment examinations for Group C and Group D positions, while the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) will continue to manage gazetted post recruitments. A significant reform introduced by the government is the implementation of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for examinations, a first for Manipur, designed to reduce human error and ensure fair conduct. The Commission has issued its first recruitment notification for approximately ten regular Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) positions. These appointments, usually made on a contractual basis, will be regular due to special approval from the Governor-in-Council, given that the State is currently under President’s Rule.

Online applications are accepted through the Commission’s official website, with a requirement for candidates to obtain sponsorship from their respective Employment Exchange Offices. Ranjit Singh urged candidates and parents to disregard rumors, assuring that the recruitment process would be free from corruption and based strictly on merit. He encouraged sincere preparation among applicants, ensuring a fair opportunity for all deserving candidates.

Additionally, the Commission is committed to providing clarification and assistance to candidates, promoting a sense of trust in the process. Ranjit Singh expressed optimism about the MSSC’s role in transforming the recruitment of Group C and Group D staff, contributing to improved governance in Manipur in the future. The event was also attended by various officials and staff from the Commission.
