Security forces arrested a 42-year-old militant belonging to a proscribed outfit in Manipur’s Kakching district and seized a cache of arms and ammunition in a separate operation in Kangpokpi, police said on Tuesday.
The self-styled major of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) was apprehended from his residence in Wangoo Mameiching area on Monday, a police statement said.
He has been identified as Arambam Bobo Singh.
In a separate operation, security forces seized a cache of arms and ammunition in the hill range of Makokching jungle under the Saikul Police Station limits in Kangpokpi on the same day, it said.
The recovered weapons include one M16, one Mark III rifle, one sniper rifle, one .22 Bolt action gun, 25 single barrel guns, 7 pistols, 76 live rounds ammunition of different calibers, 179 empty cases, one rifle magazines, four Pumpis, three hand grenades, 20 detonators, four Baofeng radio sets, and one Baofeng charger.
