Netflix Celebrates 10 Years in India, Highlights NextGen Writers’ Programme

Netflix has marked its 10th anniversary in India by reaffirming its commitment to nurturing the country’s creative talent and storytelling ecosystem. As part of the celebrations, Netflix Co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandos met a group of Indian writers for an interactive session focused on the future of storytelling and the evolving entertainment landscape.

The discussion, led by Sarandos and Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, centred on the changing craft of storytelling, emerging creative opportunities, and the growing global appeal of Indian content. According to the company, the gathering reflected Netflix’s long-standing belief that its strongest creative partnerships are built by listening to writers and investing in their ideas.

The event follows the recent launch of the NextGen India Writers’ Program, which brings Netflix’s global talent development initiative to India for the first time. The programme is designed to help aspiring writers transform original ideas into potential Netflix series through mentorship, workshops, and guidance from industry experts.

The two-month hybrid programme offers selected participants access to experienced mentors and practical training aimed at strengthening storytelling skills and developing projects for the streaming platform.

With the initiative, Netflix aims to support the next generation of Indian creators while expanding opportunities for fresh voices in the entertainment industry. The company said the programme underscores its continued investment in India’s creative ecosystem as it enters its second decade of operations in the country.
