Pakistan and South Africa stars climb up in the latest ICC ODI rankings

Following outstanding performances in their home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka this week, Pakistan’s batter Salman Agha and spinner Abrar Ahmed have risen to their highest positions in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings. After scores of 69 and five not out in the previous series against South Africa, Salman’s game-winning 105 not out off 87 balls in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi helped him move up 14 spots to 16th in the batting rankings. In this format, he is now rated second among Pakistani players, behind seventh-ranked Babar Azam.

Abrar moved up 17 spots to 20th among bowlers after collecting three wickets for 53 runs and four for 27 against South Africa. At 16th place, he is now just four spots behind Pakistan’s best bowler in the format, Shaheen Shah Afridi. Charith Asalanka of Sri Lanka (moving up one spot to sixth), Quinton de Kock of South Africa (moving up four spots to 15th), Saim Ayub of Pakistan (moving up eighteen spots to 35th), and Matthew Breetzke of South Africa (moving up eight spots to 49th) are among the other hitters going up the batting rankings.

In the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga moves up to ninth and Asitha Fernando to 25th, while Pakistan’s Haris Rauf rises to 28th and Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane to 48th. Among batters, India’s Shubman Gill jumps eight spots to 22nd, New Zealand’s Tim Robinson climbs to 23rd, and West Indies’ Rovman Powell to 30th. In bowling, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy leaps to third, Mitchell Santner to 23rd, and West Indies’ Roston Chase to 32nd.
