PNB Reaffirms Customer Safeguards and Internal Controls After Branch Discrepancies

Punjab National Bank (PNB) has assured affected account holders that all genuine claims will be fully honored following serious allegations of financial fraud and unauthorized transactions at its Greater Noida branch. The public sector lender confirmed on Thursday that it has already settled three individual claims totaling ₹43 lakh as part of its immediate response to the incident. The announcement arrived a day after panicked customers reported that approximately ₹35 crore had inexplicably gone missing from their savings accounts and fixed deposits without authorization or transaction alerts. Demonstrating a zero-tolerance policy toward financial misconduct, PNB stated that it is examining the matter on top priority, assessing the extent of reported discrepancies, and cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities to investigate the breach. Local police at the Beta-2 police station have formally registered a criminal case and launched a comprehensive investigation after the bank management placed several key branch employees, including the branch manager, under suspension. Reaffirming its commitment to operational integrity and customer protection, PNB pledged stern action against any individuals found responsible, while simultaneously reinforcing its internal control systems and monitoring mechanisms to prevent similar irregularities from recurring in the future.
