Project Suvidha 2.0 launched at 1st IRBN to improve welfare and living conditions of personnel

In an important step towards improving the living and working conditions of police personnel, Project Suvidha 2.0 was inaugurated at the 1st India Reserve Battalion (IRBN) Headquarters in Namsangmukh on Wednesday. The project was formally inaugurated by Apurba Bitin, Inspector General of Police (Operations), Police Headquarters, Itanagar. The programme was held at the battalion headquarters in the presence of senior police officers, personnel of the battalion, and their family members. Project Suvidha 2.0 aims to develop the 1st IRBN campus into a clean, green, and self-reliant space that supports the overall well-being of personnel. The focus of the initiative is on improving daily life by providing better facilities for health, fitness, community interaction, and basic needs. Officials said the project has been planned keeping in mind the long working hours and challenging duties faced by police personnel.

The initiative is built around four main areas. These include health and well-being, community living and social bonding, targeted welfare facilities, and the creation of a self-sustaining ecosystem within the battalion campus. The goal is to ensure a better quality of life not only for serving personnel but also for their families. Several new facilities were inaugurated as part of the project. These include a multipurpose hall for meetings and social programmes, an indoor gym hall for physical fitness, a wet and dry canteen-cum-clothing store, and a mess-cum-dining hall to improve dining arrangements. An obstacle training facility, designed and built by the battalion personnel themselves, was also opened. In addition, a nature walk and children’s park developed with support from corporate social responsibility initiatives were unveiled.

During the event, commendation certificates were awarded to selected personnel in recognition of their dedication and service, which boosted morale among the ranks. Senior officers present at the programme included Sachin Kumar Singhal, Commandant of 1st IRBN; Irak Bagra, Commandant of 4th IRBN, Julang; and S. Singpho, Superintendent of Police (Planning), Police Headquarters, Itanagar.
