Sajibu Nongma Panba Kumhei Festival to Be Observed by Four Communities

In a move to promote unity and preserve indigenous traditions, the Meetei, Kabui, Chothe, and Maring communities in the state have collectively resolved to celebrate the Sajibu Nongma Panba Kumhei Festival, commencing with Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba. A joint committee named the Apunba Kanglei Yelhou Phurup Sajibu Nongma Panba Kumhei Festival Committee was formed on February 19, comprising representatives from the four communities. The committee appointed Kamson Gangmumei Kabui as Chairman, with Thao Jatra Chothe and Meisnam Iboba as Vice Chairmen. At a press conference at the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple, Haying Khongban called for government recognition and funding for the festival. The leaders emphasized unity among devotees of Lainingthou Sanamahi, especially in challenging times, and highlighted a collective worship for peace and prosperity. The inaugural festival is scheduled for March 19 in Bishnupur district, marking a significant step towards enhancing communal harmony through shared cultural and spiritual heritage.
