Security forces recover arms, ammunition and explosives in intensified search operations

In a major operation to secure vulnerable regions, security forces in Manipur have successfully seized a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives across the state’s hill and valley districts. The operations, part of a coordinated effort to strengthen area domination, took place in the fringe areas of the Dampi Reserve Forest in Churachandpur district.

The recovered items include a mix of firearms, ammunition, and explosives, such as a .303 rifle, a .22 rifle, country-made pistols, live rounds of various calibers, and explosives including tear gas grenades, mortar bombs, and detonators. These items were seized as part of a concerted effort to prevent the misuse of dangerous materials in the region.

The security forces have increased their presence in these areas, particularly to ensure the safety of essential goods and services. As part of these efforts, 16 vehicles carrying vital supplies have been allowed unhindered movement along National Highway 2 (NH-2), one of the key routes for transportation in the state. Strict security measures are in place to protect these convoys, with personnel stationed at key locations to safeguard the passage.

In addition to the enhanced protection of transport routes, a total of 106 Nakas (checkpoints) have been established across the state’s districts to maintain vigilance and prevent any potential threats. The heightened security measures reflect the growing concern over the stability of the region and the need to ensure safe and secure conditions for both civilians and essential services.
