The FNCC has declared indefinite bandh in the foothills of Naga-inhabited areas

The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has announced an indefinite bandh in areas of Manipur inhabited by the Naga community, in response to the construction of the German and Tiger roads, the presence of illegal Kuki militants’ SoO camps, and the establishment of poppy plantations.

This protest follows a significant rally held in the Tamenglong district, which called for immediate action regarding development, healthcare, and governance concerns. The demonstration concluded with a collective memorandum addressed to the Governor of Manipur, outlining essential demands such as the release of overdue ration supplies, the settlement of MGNREGA material component bills, and improvements to healthcare infrastructure.

Should these demands remain unaddressed by July 23, the agitation is set to escalate through road blockades and additional protests.
