Electric vehicle manufacturer Zelio E-Mobility has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as part of its expansion strategy to strengthen its presence in South India and parts of Maharashtra. The new plant has an annual production capacity of 60,000 electric two-wheelers, increasing the company’s total installed manufacturing capacity to 2.4 lakh units per year across its four production facilities.
Established with an investment of up to ₹1 crore, the Coimbatore facility spans approximately 39,000 square feet and has been designed to support electric scooter assembly, storage, logistics, and other allied business operations. Initially, the plant will manufacture and assemble electric two-wheelers from Zelio E-Mobility’s existing product portfolio.
The company said the new facility will primarily cater to customers in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and southern Maharashtra, enabling faster deliveries and improved customer service across these key markets.
The expansion reflects Zelio E-Mobility’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for electric vehicles while strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and regional distribution network. By increasing production capacity and enhancing operational efficiency, the company aims to support the rapid adoption of electric mobility solutions in India.
Industry observers believe the new facility will help Zelio capitalise on the rising demand for electric two-wheelers, driven by increasing consumer awareness, supportive government policies, and the country’s ongoing transition towards cleaner and more sustainable transportation.
