Assam Rifles and Zokhawthar Police apprehended a sizable heroin shipment in the Champhai district of Mizoram. Security personnel established an area dominance patrol in Zokhawthar, a known cross-border smuggling hub, in response to intelligence inputs. The suspect left the contraband behind and ran away when he saw the patrol. The recovered heroin, identified as Number 4, was confiscated and turned over to law enforcement for additional examination. Security forces are stepping up their efforts to stop drug trafficking, and Mizoram continues to be a major conduit. Known as the “Sentinels of the Northeast,” the Assam Rifles are still pursuing important smuggling operators and cracking down on smuggling networks.
