Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Wednesday attended the distribution programme of welfare schemes for beneficiaries at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
The welfare schemes are being implemented by the Manipur Social Welfare Department.
The Chief Minister distributed welfare benefits worth Rs 91.67 crore for 17 social welfare schemes to 2.41 lakh beneficiaries.
He further launched the Integrated Monthly Pension Processing System (IMPPS), and Manipur Old Age Pension (MOAP) Beneficiary Cards were handed over.
Addressing the gathering, Singh said that over the past three years, the State has gone through difficult times that have disrupted the lives of its people.
“The prolonged crisis has caused financial and mental hardships to the common people to a great extent,” he said.
He further stated that to address the financial difficulties faced by the people, the Government has taken up various initiatives to provide assistance.
“This has been done under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the guidance of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,’ the Chief Minister said.
Expressing confidence, he hoped that the distribution of these benefits to around 2.41 lakh beneficiaries would provide some relief to the people.
Speaking on the development of the State, the Chief Minister said that peace and hard work are necessary.
He urged people from all communities living in the State to consider themselves as Manipuris and to contribute towards making Manipur a better State.
