COMBING OPERATIONS LAUNCHED BY JOINT FORCES TO PREVENT SPILLOVER OF VIOLENCE IN MANIPUR VILLAGES

Security forces in Manipur launched a sudden joint combing operation in the areas around Litan, Mahadev and Sinakeithel along National Highway 202 and 102 A in a bid to prevent any spillover of recent violence in the Kotlen area.
The State police forces informed that villages of both communities were patrolled jointly and bunkers were traced and dismantled.
Village authorities and civil society organisations (CSOs) were approached for support and were assured of security force presence in the area to ward away any threats.
They were also requested to sensitise their youths not to get carried away by incidents in other areas and indulge into violence near their villages.
According to an official statement, the operations would continue to ensure safety and wellbeing of the local populace and also to keep the highways safe for passage.
Meanwhile, security forces apprehended two active cadres of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) from Waithou Sangomsang near the Stone Crusher area under Lilong police station in Thoubal district on Friday.
The apprehended cadres have been identified as Sanasam Sanamatum Meitei, also known as Tompok and Oneman, aged 32, a resident of Wangoo Laipham Chithek Chingya Awang in Kakching district, and Yengkokpam Premchand Singh, also known as Chingsanglakpa, aged 26, a resident of Athokpam Sandhabung in Thoubal district.
A two-wheeler, bearing registration number, MN01L8210, was seized from their possession.
