Curfew Violators Penalised, Sent To Khongjom Memorial For Community Service

Manipur Police arrested 12 curfew violators who were involved in disrupting public order and peace in Thoubal district.
“They have been penalised with one-week community service by order of the magistrate for violating prohibitory orders. They have since been engaged in cleaning the Khongjom War Memorial site in the aftermath of Thursday’s state function,” the police force said in a statement.
Authorities have reiterated that strict action would be taken against individuals found violating curfew restrictions.
Police officials stated that the action is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with prohibitory measures and to maintain law and order in the district.
Notably, Khongjom Day was observed on Thursay amidst tight security measures taken up by Manipur Police and sister agencies.
The commemoration programme at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex was attended by the Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Ministers, MLAs, senior government officials and community members.
The programme also featured guard of honour and gun salute by personnel of Manipur Police.
