Deputy CM Urges Communal Harmony While Distributing Relief in Manipur

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Minister Nemcha Kangpokpi on Wednesday underscored the need for leading a dignified and peaceful life, urging communities in the State to shun violence.

In a fervent appeal amid ongoing ethnic tensions in Manipur, Kipgen called on all communities and village chiefs to prioritise harmony.

“Development cannot flourish amid fear and division. Peace forms the bedrock of progress,” she stated, while underlining collective efforts to ensure stability.

Addressing a gathering at an aid distribution programme, organised by the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi for strengthening education and supporting farmers, Kipgen stressed that the popular government has prioritised direct benefits to remote areas after years of setbacks.

“The true strength of governance lies in uplifting the last mile. This event shows our pledge to rebuild and empower people,” she said.

The Deputy Chief Minister distributed furniture, stationery, sports items for schools, along with farm equipment, seeds, fertilisers and essential tools to empower communities at the grassroots.

She linked the aid to long-term self-reliance, saying investments in schools and farmers secure the district’s future.

“The government aims for inclusive growth,” she said with a call for unity among communities during the first large-scale distribution undertaken by the District Council since the COVID-19 pandemic.
