In a significant ceremony recognizing valor and dedication, the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, presented the Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 to several distinguished units of the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and state police on Wednesday. The investiture ceremony, held at the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) in Imphal, honored those who have provided exemplary service in maintaining the state’s security and stability.
The event saw a high-profile gathering, including Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, and various state ministers. Senior officials from the civil, military, and police administrations were also in attendance to witness the recognition of 11 specific units for their outstanding contributions during challenging periods in the state.
The prestigious Governor’s Unit Citation 2026 was conferred upon the 19 Garhwal Rifles, the 2 Mahar Regiment, and the 17, 38, and 40 Assam Rifles. Recognition was also extended to the 25 Border Roads Task Force, the 10 Border Security Force (BSF), and the 143 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). From the state’s internal security apparatus, the district police units of Kakching, Senapati, and Churachandpur were also honored for their tireless efforts in local law enforcement.
In his keynote address, Governor Bhalla emphasized that the ceremony was more than a formal tradition; it was a profound acknowledgement of the courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment displayed by security personnel. He noted that these forces have remained steadfast under demanding conditions, playing a pivotal role in restoring public confidence and ensuring that normalcy returns to the region. The Governor also took a moment to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the families of those in uniform, stressing that their support is the backbone of the forces’ success.
Chief Minister Khemchand Singh echoed these sentiments, praising the seamless coordination between Central and State forces. He highlighted their dual role in not only maintaining law and order but also providing critical humanitarian assistance during times of crisis. The Chief Minister concluded by calling for enhanced public cooperation, urging all communities to support the security agencies in their mission to establish lasting peace and harmony across Manipur.
The ceremony concluded with a collective reaffirmation of commitment from all stakeholders to work toward the continued development, peace, and long-term stability of the state.
